Meet the Tech: Celebrating Women in Relocation Support Services

Happy International Women’s Day!

We’re spotlighting Ashley, one of the talented women in our technician network whose skill, dedication, and hands-on expertise help keep relocation support moving forward every day. Professionals like her continue to raise the bar and bring new perspectives to the field.

Cheers to the women showing up, getting it done, and inspiring the next generation along the way.

What first sparked your interest in hands-on or technical work?

I’ve always worked better with my hands rather than sitting behind a desk. I’ve never enjoyed the routine of doing the same thing every single day. With MSS, every day brings new projects, new challenges, and new opportunities to build something meaningful. That constant variety is what keeps me motivated and engaged.

What surprised you most about entering this industry?

Before entering this field, I honestly didn’t even know it existed. I was surprised to learn that high-value items are moved in custom-built wooden crates designed specifically for protection and security. It opened my eyes to an entire behind-the-scenes world that most people never think about.

What skills have you developed that you’re most proud of?

I’ve developed a strong attention to detail and the ability to carefully inspect and protect every item we handle. I’ve also grown to truly love building crates. There’s something incredibly satisfying about creating something solid, secure, and purposeful from the ground up.

When did you first feel truly confident in your craft?

The moment I picked up a staple gun and started assembling crates on my own was when everything clicked. That’s when I realized I wasn’t just assisting; I was contributing in a real, hands-on way and making a difference on the job.

What encouragement would you give someone hesitant to enter a male-dominated industry?

If you enjoy hands-on work and building something tangible, don’t let the fact that an industry is male-dominated hold you back. Sometimes being different in the room is actually your advantage. Show up, stay curious, learn everything you can, and don’t be afraid to pick up the staple gun and start building. Confidence comes through action — and you belong there just as much as anyone else.
