For this project, our craters completed a six-month project for the Branchburg, NJ outpost of Agfa Corporation, a producer of lithographic aluminum printing plates for offset presses. Agfa’s headquarters is located in Mortsel, Belgium and while the NJ plant was their largest manufacturing location in the United States, it was shuttered and transferred to existing facilities in Belgium and China. Our team of packaging specialists were tasked with getting the complex contents prepared for a plant relocation.
Challenge:
The plant comprised massive guillotine cutting systems which slit and sheet heavy 6000-ft. rolls of aluminum. Our team of crating experts were required to prep this oversized machinery for international transit.
Process:
Our crew first surveyed the project, evaluated the machinery and its components, and then returned to our warehouse to build custom crates to exact specifications and in compliance with international shipping standards (IPPC & ISPM-15) to ensure their protection during ocean transport. The craters then delivered the crates to the plant and dismantled all components of the sheeter line alongside riggers before packing the components.
Results:
The machinery, filling hundreds of crates, was successfully shipped to Belgium and China. The export packaging and crating that MSS provided enabled the items to arrive safely at their multiple shipping destinations.
