Earth Day 2021: Restore Our Earth

Happy Earth Day! This year’s theme is Restore Our Earth, which focuses on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems. It’s up to each and every one of us to Restore Our Earth not just because we care about the natural world, but because we live on it. A healthy planet is not an option — it’s a necessity!

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.
What does Local Operations and Precision Crating do to help combat climate change?
- All incoming crates are broken down to salvage usable lumber.
- All scrap lumber is repurposed into mulch.
- All cardboard used to line crates is acquired from post-move boxes from our move partners.
- All scrap cardboard is recycled.
We don’t stop there.
- MSSHQ is 100% landfill free and our recycling bins are single-stream.
- Energy consumption for our building lighting has been reduced approx. 70% with new bulbs and fixtures, motion sensor wiring, and GPS-activated exterior lights that update sunrise/sunset time daily.
- All MSS employees are provided with reusable drinkware.
- Over 450,000 pieces of paper are replaced annually by electronic forms.
- We’ve donated over 7,000 trees to reforestation by supporting the National Forest Foundation.
- MSS covers all ACH payment fees for our network to incentivize them to make the switch from paper checks. Since January 2021, we’ve converted 120 Service Providers.
